The Wait Loss
I had been trying desperately to lose 20 pounds since my last baby. I’d bought Pilates videos, aerobics videos and a set of light weights that I strapped around my ankles everywhere I walked. I was trying to run ( but not very good at it, so ended up speed-walking most of the time). It seemed like there was no hope.
A few weeks passed and I carried on with my programs, weights and walking as well as carrying around a baby that was now about 15 pounds all day long. Something had to break. Finally, I stepped on the scale and saw that there was a ten-pound difference. Elated, I ran down the stairs, straight to my husband and was so excited that I was practically jumping on the spot and blurted “Look! Look! I’ve lost 10 pounds!! Can you tell?”
“Turn around” he said. “Mmm hmm”. He was calm, his face expressionless.
I was so excited!
“Yep, he said, when you turned around, I found it!”
Deflated, defeated and discouraged, I went upstairs to plan how to possibly really look like I’d lost some weight.

Dearest Karen this was so long ago.. yes, he was cruel, and is no longer a part of my life nor my children’s. I’ve gained more than that since those years, but he was a mean man and I was young and foolish.

As I was reading this all I could think was just like a man. When we loss weight after having children it’s an amazing feeling for us but I think men seem to just think okay…whatever. Ten pounds is a big deal. I was overjoyed to lose 5 pounds. Shake it off and keep it moving!
