I Pray

Where did time go that you grew to be so?

Where did time show us a smile?

I look on the shadow of who you once were

I know my heart will be sad for the while

I took on a new place when you came in my life

You brought me happiness and gladdened my heart

You were smart, you were pretty, you were one of a kind

You were special, right from the start

But now you whither in a shell of that girl

You live in tatters and rags

How sad my heart is to think of you now

How you will soon have nothing but bags

No friends to call out to, no home to live

You gave it all up for nothing but air

I don’t understand the choices you’ve made

But you know that I always have cared

I remember you starting to go down that road

I remember you were just but a girl

You were too young to know cool from wrong

You thought you were the top of the world

So now I see you and know you aren’t mine

I know if I speak you will turn me away

But know that I love you and know that I care

Know that my heart hurts, and for you, I pray

I love and appreciate feedback. Feel free to let me know what you think. Bless you lots, Easter Ellen
