The Perfect Setting

The Perfect Setting

I lie still, not wanting to open my eyes yet. I feel the sweet breeze on my cheeks coming through the terrace doors. I smell the salt of the sea. The voices are far away, but the town is scrambling in the markets, the fish-mongers and the cafes prepare for their busy day.

I look over to my beloved.. He is purring like a cat and looks as if he is in The dreamland of Heaven itself. The linens are exquisite. I rub my legs against them a few times just to feel the cool, soft tight weave. I look over to the balcony.. It seems as if it is as ancient as time itself. The cement pillars that had been poured hundreds of years ago still stood strong in this wonderful palazzo. The thin gauzy curtains wave at me as they dance with the gentle breeze. I smile., could life be more decadent?

The room is finely decorated in a romantic, inviting tone with rich hues of reds and golds accenting the antiqued wool of the furniture and the breath-taking marble floor. Lovely details of precious vases filled with fresh flowers, original paintings of the Gulf and portraits of perhaps those who may have owned this wonderful mansion fill the walls. Yet, with all of the detail so carefully attended to, there remains a spacious airiness that surrounds you in typifying luxury.

I walk over to the terrace and find myself stunned by the view. I’ve seen it now for three days, yet still my breath is taken away by the jewel of beauty that sparkles before my eyes. I am staring at the Golfo Di Amalfi. The sea literally sparkles as it plays with the morning sun and it seems that nature has a sense of beauty here that is difficult to match elsewhere and hence enjoys itself in creating wondrous vistas that thousands come through weekly to enjoy.

I can smell a hint of Limoncella, a local speciality, that is a favourite of tourists and residents alike. I am getting anxious to have the first of my morning espressos. I feel a hand slip around my back to my waist and without glancing at him, I am in the midst of my dream.. My beloved, our dream of visiting the Amalfi Coast with the sun kissing our skin hello and another day to explore and enjoy ahead of us.

    • Thank you so much Aarya.. I was ill so I have started a few days late and get done what has to get done. I thought I’d be writing my little heart out as I was ill, but I was too ill for that. I was just a mess and the best I could do was read when I was awake.
Nice to be back and thank you so much for your kindness 🙂 ❤

      • I knew tht you must be ill…you know sort of woman instinct…but am glad to see you back 🙂

        • Thank you dearest Aarya.. Very ill. I couldn’t even write and I wanted to so badly. I am so happy to be back. Weekends are always difficult for me, but if I’m not writing during the week for more than a day, something is usually going on..

I love and appreciate feedback. Feel free to let me know what you think. Bless you lots, Easter Ellen
