To Sum Us Up

From Today’s Daily Prompt: Worldly Encounter

If I had to sum up all of the human race to a stranger of who we are, there are so many thoughts that cross my mind from the worst of horrors to the tenderest care.. the humour, the tears, the kindness, the ruthlessness. How does any book or movie sum that up..

I was thinking first of Dude, Where’s My Car (I know: how stupid, but the movie makes me laugh). This is from my silly, geeky side, that has no relevance here, but it was the first thing that came to mind.

Then I thought of the song Imagine as it says so much.

Then I thought of what probably depicts us so very well, with the exception of the fact that it is written of a different era. Les Miserable. I think that although it is not for everyone, it depicts human nature so very well… other than the fact that we don’t sing everything that we say.

  1. Very nice… Had me thinking what I might put for a movie… Couldn’t decide between Tom Hanks in “Money Pit” or Bob Murry in “What About Bob”…. 🙂

  2. Can you imagine if we did sing everything we say? I wonder if the people who can’t sing a note, would then be able to. Or would we instead be covering our ears everywhere we go? 🙂 Dude, Where’s My Car is a great pick. That sums up at least a portion of America’s culture.

    • Lol – I like the picture of us covering up our ears! Yes, that movie just makes me laugh.. my favourite line (which I couldn’t find online) is “It’s not a bubble suit; it’s an intergalactic space suit!”

    • Oh my gosh!!! What an AWESOME song!! I so love it, thank you so much for showing to me. You should post this as the prompt answer.
Thank you for showing me this.. I am still playing the song and listening..
I should add it, if you don’t use it.

  4. Ahhh- thanks for the opportunity to listen to Imagine this morning (one of my all time favorite songs!) And I would be ‘one of those people’ who would cause you to cover your ears if we had to sing every note, unless otherwise graced with a miracle of song! 🙂 be well. ~Karen~

    • Lol – I would have to cover my own if I sang.. it is THAT bad!!! 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

  13. I am john lenon fan… I did not watch Les misrabeles just cause its too musical for me and not my cup of tea, I like more action.:P..Thanks for sharing Easter

    • Always my pleasure.. how are you? I have not been on as much as I want this week.. just so rushed and another darn stone.. ugh.

      • Hi Easter,

I am good. How are you? Kind of same, not enough time for research much. Dad has put me on a business project, so kind of busy there. Emails are filling my inbox.. I really have to get around reading them. That really sucks about the stone Easter. You really have to take care of yourself. Try taking some rest. Spend some quality time with your partner I guess. tc. My blessings are with you..:)

        • Aw thank you 🙂 Yes, I am forced to rest right now and my guy is like the “stone Nazi”. He has been pushing me to get to the hospital since last night even with no fever. He just knows the patterns to well and doesn’t want me to end up with sepsia before it’s too late. I’m packing my bag, just in case. Otherwise, we will have a quiet weekend together. Usually today is our “date” day where we do anything together, but not a good day for me to be fishing, walking in the woods.. so low-key it is.
Sounds like your dad is a great guy 🙂 Nice that he is bringing you into business projects. Don’t stress about your emails. They have a funny way of sitting there until you deal with them 😉
          Bless you lots,

I love and appreciate feedback. Feel free to let me know what you think. Bless you lots, Easter Ellen
