Yesteryear

Sweet sounds of yesteryear ringing through my head

The memory of little ones nuzzled into me in bed

The sounds of their little feet running down the hall

Their sweet little voices, singing “Mommy”, as they’d call

Laughter ringing through the home in every little nook

Bedtime gathered all around as I’d read their favourite book

Crayons and storybooks, dolls, Lego and trucks

Walks to the riverside to feed the little ducks

Sunshine gleaming off their hair, moonlight on their face

There is no other memory that has such a spacial place

  2. Thank you for this post. I tend to focus on the negative when I remember my family memories. It’s better that I retrain these memory traces. Bless you Easter Ellen. Bless you.

    • 🙂 and bless you Gary. I have a lot of negative memories also from a very abusive husband/father to my children. Those memories are there also, but I have chosen to focus on the memories that I am so thankful for as they lift my day in beauty instead of pulling me into despair.
Both memories are active, both feelings are also… just I choose to hope 🙂
      Bless you lots,
      Easter

  5. This was very sweet. I love the way you’ve worded this. I haven’t gotten to the point of ‘yesteryear’ yet, but my son who is 14, is a blessing to me, so I understand this post well.

    • 🙂 Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on this. My youngest daughter is 15, and my other three are in their twenties.. them memories that I treasure are the ones that are with their hand holding mine.
      Have a wonderful night.
