Mapping.. My Gratitude

Mapping My Gratitude

So many to thank as I map out the tree

So many have shared their heart-songs with me

So many have given their effort and time

So many have encouraged me to continue to climb

At the centre of all; God who has held up my spirit

In despair’s haunting void; His love helped me clear it

He lifted me up and he clothed me in peace

He said “My child I love you, your sins are released”

I thank my sisters and brother for holding my hand

Through sickness, such sickness; too much to stand

Through my dark days you circled and held me up straight

You loved me, not judged me, wiped the tears from my face

My sweet little Emi, who was so very young

“Sing songs with me Auntie”;  and together we sung

From weeping to lyrics of old nursery rhymes

She called me, she loved me,her sweetness divine

My beloved Antonio, in the midst of all gratitude

You’ve given your heart, with your calm, thoughtful attitude

You made me believe again in who I can be

You saved my life and my spirit, knowing the worst parts of me

As I map out my thanks, I can endlessly see

Dear friends, even acquaintances who showed kindness to me

How wonderful this map as it ripples through the years

I;m so grateful to all who’ve blessed me with love and through tears

  1. Easter, this poem is a lovely tribute to those who’ve loved you. It has caused me to pause and think of many friendly faces from my own past… Thank you!

    • 🙂 Thank you so much. When I saw the prompt “mapping” yesterday, all I could think of from that moment was to map out the thanks in my heart for those who had helped me through a really rough time.
